Old Grand-Dad Bonded
Old Grand-Dad Bonded is an incredible value bourbon. It’s a Jim Beam product (featuring the Clermont high-rye bourbon mash bill: 63% corn, 27% rye, 10% barley). It’s 4-years-old and 100 proof in accordance with the Bottled in Bond Act. For comparison, the “Jim Beam Bonded” features the high corn mash bill of 76/14/10 Corn/Rye/Barley and is also very good.
OGDB is $25, always available at the local ABC, and smells/tastes delicious. If you like Basil Hayden but think it’s too thin at 80 proof…or you like OGD 114 but either can’t regularly find it or think it’s too hefty, welp, you’d probably really like OGD Bonded.
As an ode to the “old label” on the bottle of OGD Bonded I am emptying today, I’m posting this simple review: it looks, smells, tastes, and finishes like a much pricer/more difficult to find bourbon whiskey. ‘Nuff said. Cheers!
