Barrell Craft Spirits to open a Kentucky distillery

Barrell Craft Spirits, the non-distiller producer headed by Joe Beatrice, will open a new distillery in Louisville, Kentucky's Gilmore industrial area. You can read more comprehensive coverage by Fred MinnickWhisky Advocate, and Axis of Whisky.

36-year-old Tripp Stimson, a Brown-Forman R&D guy, will serve as master distiller and produce between 750 and 1,000 barrels/year with a hybrid pot and column still. The company will continue to source, blend, and bottle cask strength products like the bourbon and American whiskey we've come to love. You can read my reviews of Barrell Bourbon Batches 005006007008009010; and Barrell Whiskey Batch 002.

Also, if you didn't already know, the company recently added a sourced cask strength rum to its lineup. Bottom line: it's damn tasty but needs an ice cube at 134.7 proof!

We look forward to visiting the distillery, sipping on Barrell-made products, and watching Joe grow the brand.
