Eighteen 33 Bourbon Whiskey (Boone County Distilling Co.)

Eighteen 33 Straight Bourbon Whiskey is a 10-year-old MGP product bottled by the relatively new Boone County Distilling Co. just south of Cincinnati in Independence, Kentucky. The owners have gone to great lengths to highlight the distilling traditions of northern Kentucky, and they explain the meaning of 1833 on their website. They purchased the product when it was around seven years old and bottled/released it in late 2015.

Boone County is a functional distillery and offers a white whiskey in addition to this sourced bourbon and a bourbon cream.

Eighteen 33 Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Boone County Distilling Co.
90.8 proof
$60 at Liquor Barn in Lexington, KY

Color: Rich, medium amber.

Nose: Oak, pine sap, lemon zest. Some vanilla and caramel sweetness, but subtle and mostly woody.

Tasting Notes: Straight-forward oak, a touch of spice, alcohol heat, and a dry piney finish.

Overall: C+. A decent bourbon, but not anything to write home about. There are $30 bourbons that are much tastier in my opinion.
